Manchester United

Manchester United Football Club has come a long way since their formation as Newton Heath back in 1878. United moved into their spiritual home of Old Trafford back in 1910 and while tragedy has struck the club in the form of the Munich Air Disaster which claimed the lives of eight players back in 1958, the club has gone on to become the most successful in English history.

The club is now owned by the American Glazer family who also own the Tampa Bay Buccanners. The takeover has proven to be highly controversial with Malcolm Glazer transferring his existing debts into the football club leaving many fans disgruntled and wondering if the club can, on a financial scale, compete with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea. Despite this, the club went out and bought Robin van Persie in the summer of 2012 for £24m and subsequently won this year's Premier League with his goals playing a major part in this achievement.
